keka case
In 2013 Eleni Kyriacou was asked by Keka Case to design a collection of casing for a range of technological devices including Iphones, Samsung phones, Ipads and Kindles. Both snap on cases and opening cases were required.
The concept explored for this Keka Case collection was textures. The contrast between the virtual/digital world and what is tangibly appealing is what excited Eleni about this collection. The 1:1 scale of the textile or object was explored in many of these designs in order to convey the effect of real fabric texture, pins, chains and so on – a textural optical illusion in a sense. A 'lining' concept was used for the opening cases, whereby a contrasting, unexpected texture is revealed when opening the case. In this way these pieces became graphic textural collages.
