Spring summer 2015 is inspired by the work of Naum Gabo. Naum Gabo’s most famous work is that of a sculpted female bust: sculpted through space defined through planes. Eleni Kyriacou draws from constructivist concepts seen in the sculpture of Naum Gabo, where space is defined through a skin of strings, planes (curved and flat) and ‘halo’ lines that frame space. Equally Eleni looks at the emotions and rhythms expressed in the way Naum Gabo collaged his forms. Eleni is also fascinated by anatomical references and ‘systems’ that she sees in his work.
Eleni translates constructivist concepts into fashion playing with ways of defining space through the use of commonly used trimming such as tassels and ropes. She also collages with form. Her colour palette draws from his painting as well as sculpture.
