In 2023 I designed Alexandra Varla's wedding dress. The timing coincided with my collection Old Lace, New life so I decided to employ the corresponding collection concept into the design. I incorporated old crochet laces which were small 'flower' like motifs. I used this to guide the design of the dress into a floral theme whereby silk organza (which was the main dress fabric) was used to create 'leaf' motifs. These elements were individually appliquéd onto the dress, at times bursting out of the periphery of the dress, namely the neckline and backline.
I presented the collection Old Lace, New life at the National Archaeological museum after completing the piece and former director of the museum Anna Karapanagiotou loved the dress so much she asked me to include it in the museum garden exhibition. Hence the dress was on display in the museum garden from the 07.06.23 - 31.08.23.
