EXHIBITION: THURSDAY 28/11/2013 - MONDAY 2/12/2013
Transformable pop-out dress was originally designed for The Jerwood Makers Open in 2011, and was selected for the above exhibition. It experiments with the idea of a tranformable garment by integrating 'pop-outs' into pleating. The transformable contracts and extends into a top, skirt and dress and can be worn back to front. It was made using bonded starched silks to create a fabric dress that behaves like paper. Transparent cord passes through perforations enabling the wearer to interact with the piece, extending or contracting and adjusting to numerous configurations. The cords runs over the shoulders also serving as straps.
