AKTO COLLEGE

This was my second time lecturing at AKTO. The first being back in 2017 together with luxury lifestyle instagramer Lena Harizopoulos.

Unlike my first time where I lectured in a large hall, this time my talk was on a more intimate scale in a smaller classroom. The attendees were a mix of both undergraduate and postgraduate fashion students and I enjoyed talking to them about my career to date.

I presented various collections including Wear Your Beliefs and Old Lace, New Lace, therefore leading to topics around sustainability, heritage and activism. I also discussed the Olympic costumes project and my collaboration with the London Sock Company, as our discussion led into striking the balance between authentic creativity with the need to make a living.

We therefore discussed how one can make a living as a designer without compromising as an artist. I also discussed their potential power as designers as having the unique ability to influence the world through their creativity if they choose such as via political messaging, the creation of sustainable design templates and so on.
