THE MAGIC OF FOSSILS & MINERALS

I visited two natural history museums this year. In January I visited the Australian Museum in Sydney and in August I visited the Musée des Confluences in Lyon. Both had astonishing collections of fossils and minerals.

Both natural phenomena never cease to amaze me. These natural creations that materialise, normally over millions of years and create reliefs and sculptures of mother earth are truly inspiring. Fossils being natural reliefs tracing the remains of extinct species and minerals being luminous, sumptuous and mystical forms created from nothing.

These forms, textures and colours immediately make me think of surface design and design of form in the context of textiles and fashion.
