BARTLETT WHISTLEBLOWING | WIDER IMPACT AND BARTLETT SCHOOL OF SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION ALLEGATIONS

In the period following the release of the Howlett Brown report much discussion was sparked in the press and on social media, not just on issues surrounding misconduct at the Bartlett, but of wider issues of misconduct in other architecture schools, in higher education more generally, in architectural practice and in architectural institutions such as the RIBA. An example of an article exploring these issues was published this month by Ella Jessel for The Architect’s Newspaper:

Also, this month fresh allegations occurred against the Bartlett, this time coming from the School of Sustainable Construction. It was initially covered by the Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/education/2022/aug/03/academics-make-claims-of-bullying-and-racism-at-another-ucl-school and then followed up by other publications such as the Architect’s Newspaper: https://archinect.com/news/article/150319988/more-accusations-of-bullying-at-the-bartlett-plague-ucl-ahead-of-leadership-transition. Simultaneously edits were again made to the Bartlett’s Wikipedia page, this time to the School of Sustainable Construction: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bartlett#Racism,_sexism_and_bullying
