As well as applying the concept of incorporating reclaimed vintage, Greek laces in wedding dresses, I have also implemented the idea in children’s’ wear, namely: flower girls’ dresses and a baptism dress.

For my flower girls I designed a dress in a variation of three slightly different soft tones (light pink, light blue and bronze) using silk chiffon where I incorporated an oval, bobbin lace in each dress depicting a butterfly motif, placed over the back and shoulder area of the dress creating a ‘bolero’ element.

For the baptism dress I created I placed an oval piece of crochet lace on the upper part of the garment to dress the entire circumference of the neckline and shoulders. To do this we removed the central oval part of the lace (to create a head-hole) and appliquéd it onto a headband to create a matching accessory. I also used another lace with a matching ‘pine-cone’ like design to create a handbag accessory that the mother could use to keep the baby’s baptism shoes in.
